About this guide
Who writes this guide, how we check what we publish, and how to tell us when something has changed.
The Only Vietnam Guide is a practical guide to travelling in Vietnam: where to go, how to move between cities, and what to sort out before you arrive. It is written by The Only Vietnam Guide Editorial Team and is the Vietnam sister of The Only Peru Guide, built on the same idea: plain answers first, then the detail.
How we research a page
- Primary sources first. Visa rules come from Vietnam's official e-visa portal and immigration notices, train times from Vietnam Railways, health advice from the CDC and WHO, and prices from operators' own sites or named booking platforms on a stated date.
- Times match the mode. New expressways have cut car journeys sharply, while sleeper buses on the same road are much slower. We always say which one a figure is for.
- Every page lists its sources with the date we checked them, and ends with its limitations.
- No invented experiences. We do not publish made-up reviews, quotes or first-hand stories.
Photos
Hero photos come from Wikimedia Commons under licences that allow reuse. The photographer and licence are credited under each photo.
Corrections
Prices, timetables and entry rules change. If something on a page is out of date, please tell us and include the page link. We check every report against the source and update the page date when we change it.
